HOW DO STANCHIONS WORK?

The way stanchions work depends on their design and intended use. However, the basic concept behind stanchions is to provide a vertical post or support that can act as a barrier or provide stability.

Stanchions with retractable belts, which are commonly used for crowd control and queue management, typically consist of a vertical post or stanchion with a retractable belt mechanism attached to it. The retractable belt is usually made of a durable material like nylon or polyester and is housed within the stanchion's housing or cassette.

To use a stanchion with a retractable belt, the user typically starts by unlocking the mechanism that holds the belt in place. The user then pulls the belt out of the stanchion and attaches it to an adjacent stanchion or an anchor point. The belt is then extended or retracted as needed to guide people into lines or to restrict access to certain areas.

When not in use, the retractable belt is stored within the stanchion's housing or cassette. The belt is kept taut by a spring-loaded mechanism that allows it to be easily extended and retracted. The stanchion itself may be weighted or anchored to the ground to provide stability, depending on its size and the amount of tension on the belt.
